Paucek’s Bonasa Bandit  JH, CD

Hi, my name is Bandit.  I’m a little, 7-year old female English Setter, but don’t let my 32 lb. size fool you. You may never have hunted with a bird dog as good as I am! I’m registered with the AKC(American Kennel Club) and the FDSB (Field Dog Stud Book)

I’ve hunted grouse and woodcock with my hunting buddy, Ernie from New York east to Maine, and north to southern Quebec…, ooohhh, lots of grouse up there. Not only that, I’ve hunted sharptails, prairie chickens, and Hungarian partridge out west on the grasslands and big wheat ranches in South Dakota and Montana.   Wow, wow..…., are there ever a lot of birds out there, and what a place to cut loose and range way out on those open grasslands.

I not only find and point birds, I retrieve them, too, both from the land and the water. I hate to brag, but I do have an AKC Junior Hunter title, an AKC Companion Dog title in obedience, plus two AKC Master Hunter legs.

Ernie says one of the things he likes most about me is my “Switch”, which I can turn on in the field and off in the house, car, or boat.

Here’s a photo of me with my golden buddy, Sadie when I was 8 weeks old, the first day I came home with Ernie from Paucek Kennels in Sacco, Maine, where I was raised by my famous English Setter Grouse Trial breeder/handler, Kellie Short.  My momma was Paucek’s Checkers and my sire, Paucek's Rolling Rock’s Robby. My granddaddy, Paucek’s Tommy Knocker won the National Grouse Championship. Pretty good stuff, eh?

When I was 13 weeks old, I had already heard lots of gun shots, and they didn’t bother me, so Ernie took me for a walk, and thought I was pointing a mouse or something, but..., Surprise!!!…, it was a big old cock pheasant. He shot it for me, and I attacked it!   Pheasants are one of my favorites.

I guess there’s a reason my buddy, Ernie, calls me the “Everready Bunny”. Maybe it has to do with me never pooping out, even when we’re hunting out on the South Dakota grasslands when the temperature is in the 70’s and I’m still out in front 400 yds.not even breathing hard, and all the other dogs’ tongues are hanging out! Sometimes Ernie thinks he should have named me Papillon, that’s French for butterfly!

Cover Dog Setter’s 5 X Ch. Pennstar

Hi, I’m 5x Ch.Pennstar (1513823, male, 2/18/00). I’m a grouse trial setter, and my owner Dick Brenneman, who calls me Rock, says I’m the best he’s ever had in 40 years. How about that!  I’m 11 years old, and still going strong. I just bred Bandit, and produced 4 Bandit x Pennstar pups. I’ve competed in many grouse trials over my 11 years and built a solid string of accomplishments as an all-age grouse dog

In the fall of 2007, with pro Dave Hughes at the helm, I ran against 82 bird dogs, and won the prestigous Pennsylvania Grouse Championship, joining a select few male english setters in history who have won five championships on wild birds. Earlier, in the spring of 2007, running against 70 dogs, I earned my 4th Championship by winning the Ontario Grouse Championship at The Barrens in PA, defending my ‘06 Championship win at the Ontario against 62 other bird dogs. My other Championship wins, include the International Amateur Woodcock Championship in Canada and the 2005 Michigan Woodcock Championship (61 entrants) which featured both grouse and woodcock finds.

And when I was younger, how about me earning both the Pennsylvania Walking Shooting Dog Associations “Open Derby of the Year” award and the “Open Walking Shooting Dog of the Year” award!

Pointing dog folks know me for producing consistent, exciting, hard driving hunting cover dogs that are classy in motion and on point, with the personality and instincts to develop early around game and stand staunch on point. My pups have won;

        • Cover Dog (Grouse) and Quail Shooting Dog Championships in a variety of venues.
        • 2005, 2006 and 2008 Flanagan Award (top cover dog derby).
        • 1st Grand National Grouse Futurity on three separate occasions
        • 2nd Grand National Grouse Futurity on two separate occasions.
        • Over 35 placements in Cover Dog Classics
        • 9 First Places in Cover Dog Classics
        • State and Regional Puppy, Derby and Cover Dog of the Year Awards

I’ve produced 65 winners who have scored over 300 field trial wins. No wonder pointing dog folks are excited about my Bandit pups.
