Ernie, You are the true die-hard fisherman. My brother and I fished with you several times in the mid 90's. We always had a great time. We still talk about how passionate and enthuiastic you are with fishing. I've been doing alot of offshore fishing in the past years but now I'm getting a craving for some fresh smoked salmon. Hope to be seeing you soon.

I look forward to fishing with you again in the near future as well as for Muskies on the St Lawrence this fall. Kenny Steblen Clayton, NY

Well Ernie another season has come and gone. This year has been just fantastic. The 5 trips we did with you have been just what the Dr. ordered. With a brother and his wife in Iraq doing what has to be done the job we have here for the state kept us sane for another year, besides that the fishing was just exceptional. You as always provided us with not only some great fish, but provided us with some time to just relax with great company. Not only that but you did something I have been trying for years with Patty. She is taking your advice and going tonight to get help stop smoking.

Just wanted to say what a day Patty and I had with you this week. As you know the overtime that I do where I work is unreal but each and every time I go out with you it's like having a weeks vacation. The fishing was great getting everything from a few browns, lakers, rainbow, and salmon shows that you can adjust to any fishing situation if you do your homework as you have. As always Ernie it's been another great trip with lots of good times and memories that will last forever. Looking forward to our next trip.

What can I say, Ernie is one of the most experienced great lakes fisherman there is, and a class act all the way. He has probably forgotten more than most guys know. I have been fishing lake Ontario since the late 70's and through his writings, on-the-water classes and seminars I always learn a new trick or two from him. Ernie is an innovator who unselfishly shares his knowledge. Simply put, he has made me a much better fisherman. Those who have fished with him know this. If you have not yet fished with him, you should! Oh yeah, he builds some pretty sweet fishing rods too (wink). All the best to you Ernie. Tight lines!

We continue to be successful each and every time we go out on the lake with you. Just when you think you have caught the biggest fish of your life you come up with a new one. That 19 lb. 7 oz rainbow was surely a prize fish and it will stay on the wass and in my mind for a long time. Just can't wait until we do the drift trip in October with you. What will you come up with then? Thanks for a life time of memories.

Thankx Ernie for sending me the howie flies two years ago. They have been working equally as well if not better than any hardware or J-Plugs I use and are on a par the same as the cut-bait rigs. This is my 14th year on Great Lake Ontario and each year we see your boat on the water and we have been doing better in recent years because of your howie-fly program. LUNKER PATROL

Ernie, Why don't you advertise on your home page a "Howie Fly class sign-up for June, July, August for Summer of 2002? Start a sign-up sheet for one day for each month, and see what kind of response you get. I think there might be people like me interested in attending, and plucking there $100.00 bill down for some of the best instruction from the Master of fish. The main issue is cancellation from friends who want to go but someoene always back out for various reasons as the time approaches. Why not get 8 very interested people that come from various geographies together. Lower cancel rate I bet too! Let me know what you think. I want to be one of the first in the July class. Ron

Getting ready for the Loc derby, and a week of fishing beginning August 18th. Thanks for the Super line treble hook recommedation, and recent order. I can't wait to try with cut bait. I had lots of knockoffs last year with the 2/0 to 3/0 trebles but this year these super 4 hardness hooks, and very sharp size 2 smaller trebles will be interesting with Howie flies, and cut bait. If the fishing is anything like last year we are anticipating up to 30 Salmon this year based on last year's catch, and increased hook up's with these amazing hooks. I will post a full report when I return in late August. Thanks Ernie for sharing great information to promote the outstanding comeback, and fishery you have in Lake Ontario. You are truly an ambassador to the sport. Ron

This past weekend I had my first Lake Ontario salmon experience. It was awesome. The fishing wasn't great but we did manage to put a few nice salmon in the cooler. I can see myself making a few trips a year. As much as I enjoy fishing the Walleye capital of the world (Lake Erie) fishing Lake Ontario for salmon is a whole other level of fishing that I truly enjoyed. I also like the way you constructed your website. Very informative and easy to navigate.

Well It was a great trip this year. We all had fun. At least we got to go out on the lake this year. I wonder if anybody'll catch a bigger atlantic salmon than my dad (Paul) and take home the "prized" rod. I can't wait till Next year so we can all go and take home some monsters. Well iut has been some fun.

Thanks for another great trip. Fred and Jane were just amazed at how relaxed and how much fun Lake Ontario and the "Fish Doctor" fishing was. I'm sure that they will be back again. I know that Pat and I will. See you again in July so save some of the big ones for us old timers. Dave

Capt. Ernie,Randy,& Carol.....I was recently aboard your fine vessel with Mark Osinsky, Matt, and my son Keaton. I want you to know we had a fine time in spite of our apparent lack of sleep. My son and I came away with an education, and the very biggest fish we've ever caught in our lives. We were very impressed by your efforts and determination. You are exquisite hosts. Hope you have an outstanding summer season. I hope to see you again! Many Thanks - Craig

Dear Carol and Ernie: Finally visited your website...wow, what a wonderful job you've done. This is an unbelieveable source of information. Thanks for including the picture of Dad and I in the newsletter...what a memorable day. I'm going to talk my wife into coming up during the warm months to fish with you guys on the Lake. One concern though, she gets seasick especially if anchored, better trolling and moving. Is most of the Lake fishing trolling? Very rough? We've found that the transderm patches have helped the most for her. Anyway, we'll stay in touch. Jerry sends his best too! Gobbler season is just around the corner, right! Yours, Steve

Hi Ernie, Have been reading your web site for several months now with considerable interest. Also, have been fishing Lake Ontario on weekends July - September since 1998 with my own PenYan 22ft Outrage, and have enjoyed moderate success. Am very interested in improving my skills via one or more of your fishing classes for browns, steelhead, salmon and lakers. What is available for the coming spring, summer, fall in 2001? Have dates been set yet? Have also read your articles in the GL Angler, 2000. Keep up the good work. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, Ray Baum.

Hi Ernie (again), Forgot to add walleyes to the list in the previous message a few minutes ago. I would like to know more about how to catch them in Lake Ontario. My only attempt so far was in August, 2000 (out of Mud Bay) where the fishing was along the US / Canadian border. Saw some nice fish caught by other fishermen, but they were in Canadian waters. What has been your experience with Walleyes in Lake Ontario? Can good results be expected in the Mexico Bay / Oswego area? Do any of your classes include Walleyes? Thanks, Ray Baum
